NOTICE REGARDING SECURITY PROCEDURES FOR VISA APPLICANTS:
In order to more efficiently process record numbers of visa applicants through security, effective immediately visa applicants cannot bring cell phones, electronic devices (such as laptops, PDAs, MP3 players, cameras etc.) or any bags except small handbags, purses, or plastic bags into the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu. Applicants should bring only their passports and application materials. Please note that the consulate cannot provide storage for applicants; applicants will be turned away if they bring any of the prohibited items mentioned above. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to improve our service to the public.
Visa Renewals: CITIC Bank Drop-Box Service
Many applicants whom meet certain criteria might not need to appear for an interview to receive a visa. Instead, they might be able to apply for a visa by submitting their application via CITIC Bank Drop-Box Service. All qualified visa renewal applications submitted to designated CITIC Bank branches in Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces will be expeditiously processed by our Guangzhou Visa Renewal Processing Center and returned directly to the applicants via Express Mail Service (EMS). The U.S. Consulate in Chengdu processes Non-Immigrant Visas (NIVs) only. For information on Immigrant Visas, please visit the website of the U.S. Consulate General, Guangzhou, which handles all Immigrant Visa applications in China.
