Consul General Traces the History of Relations between the U.S. and China for Undergraduates at SWUFE

On October 27, 2009, Consul General David E. Brown delivered a speech about the 30th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations between the United States and China to more than 200 undergraduate students at the Southwest University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu.  During the presentation, Mr. Brown traced the history of relations between the United States and China from the 18th century to present and discussed areas of mutual cooperation as well as common misunderstandings between the two cultures.  Mr. Brown also took time to provide key information about study in the United States, to dispel myths about student and tourist visas, and to invite students to participate in the Consulate’s ongoing English Lecture and Video Series.
